This year, popular rakugo (traditional Japanese comedic storytelling) artist Ichinosuke Shunputei presents yet another showcase of traditional Japanese comedy and performance for both children and adults alike!
This year, Setagaya Public Theatre (SePT) is proud to present another exciting showcase of traditional Japanese comedy and performance.
The daytime performance is an introduction to traditional Japanese comedy and performance that is perfect for children. This performance features a daikagura performance by Okinaya Shachu. Daikagura is a popular traditional performing art best known for acts like the shishi-mai (lion dance) and balancing objects on an umbrella. It’s sure to be fun for the whole family!
The evening performance features a full-fledged rakugo performance that can be enjoyed by both newcomers and rakugo fanatics alike. Ichinosuke Shunputei presents a generous selection of true rakugo gems at this performance. This event also features a traditional Japanese paper-cutting performance by special guest Shoraku Hayashiya. Don’t miss this exciting showcase of traditional Japanese comedy and performance!
