Performing Arts Critic 16

The series <Critique of the Performing Arts> is a course in which students practice criticism of theater and dance. We have two courses, "Writing Criticism" for Joint Review and "Reading the Stage" for theory, and we will proceed in conjunction with each other.

In the joint review course "Writing Criticism", we ask participants to submit a critique (approximately 2012 to 2,000 characters) of the performance hosted by the Setagaya Public Theater in 4,000, which is the subject of each session, for review and discussion.I aim not only to write a critique, but also to use that critique as a starting point to have discussions with people who have gathered in the same place.Anyone who has submitted an application can participate.

In the theory section "Reading the Stage" course, we will explore a wide range of perspectives and methods for reading and understanding stage productions, keeping in mind the performances hosted by the Setagaya Public Theater, which is covered in the joint review section "Writing Criticism."By broadening our horizons to various issues surrounding the performing arts, we will examine the nature of "criticism" that goes beyond mere impressions.
