Overview

Theatrical repertoire works created from interviews with ordinary people will be unveiled!

``Local Stories'' is a project where people come together to create theater without a script. For 1997 years since Setagaya Public Theater opened in 27, we have been creating ``local stories'' that can be shared with the entire local community, starting from the thoughts, lives, lives, and ongoing social issues of ourselves and those around us. I have been creating theater with the aim of weaving a new meaning.
This year's presentation will be slightly different from previous years' presentations, which were mainly attended by the general public.

Titled "Adventures of Theater and the Local Community," Setagaya Public Theater will present a collection of works created in collaboration with social welfare corporations and people with disabilities in Setagaya Ward.
``Tomonya's Room'' and ``A Little Play About Support'' are a series of works that we have been creating together with local residents in preparation for the art festival ``Gokuraku Festival'' that has been held in the Shimouma area since 2021. ``Acceptable Bodies/Unacceptable Bodies'' was born out of dialogue with people with disabilities with whom I have had long-term relationships. In addition, we will also announce raps by ordinary people looking back on the coronavirus.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see works that have been created and performed in local communities at a theater. Please come and visit us.

Performances

“Tomo Nya’s Room ~ Masashi Kuroda”(40 minutes)
“Tomo Nya’s Room ~Yoko Nakagawa”(40 minutes)

[MC] Tomona Daido [Cast] Tomona Daido, Shiori Takano, Kyohei Ito, Mizuki Kanno + Masashi Kuroda, Yoko Nakagawa
[Cooperation] Care Center Flat

Mr. Kuroda suffered a brain injury due to a traffic accident when he was 18 years old, and Mr. Nakagawa suffered brain damage due to a cerebral hemorrhage in his 30s. Both of them went to Care Center Furatto (a facility in the Shimouma district of Setagaya Ward where people with disabilities due to the aftereffects of illness or accidents attend). I am. In response to the couple's desire to let as many people know about their lives, the actors created a work based on interviews. The story humorously depicts the lives of these two from despair to the life they have now. Both of them will appear in the talk after the play! This is a popular work that is touring elementary and junior high schools across the country.

“A body that can be accepted, a body that cannot be accepted”(65 minutes)

[Cast] Yo Kashiwagi, Masayuki Yamamoto, Sachiko Sato, Michiko Ishida, Michisato Kubota
[Progress/Composition] Yo Kashiwagi (Director/NPO Theater Department Store)
*The performer has been changed from Nobuhito Ariyoshi to Michisato Kubota.

This work was created from interviews with four people over 60 years old with severe cerebral palsy living in Setagaya Ward, and was performed at "Local Stories 4." People with disabilities have appealed to society, ``A disabled body is not inferior, and let's accept the body as it is,'' and have achieved an ``independent life'' (living out of a facility) with the help of those around them. When the person concerned becomes unable to move their body more than ever due to old age, and finds it difficult to accept their body... What did the actors think of hearing the voices of people with disabilities who face their feelings despite their conflicts and fears? Questions are also posed to those watching.

"A small play about support 3 - Mr. Nagami's story"(30 minutes)

[Cast] Bunrai Jun, Aya Matsuda, Masayuki Yamamoto
[Composition] Masayuki Yamamoto [Cooperation] Ryota Nagami

A series based on interviews with people who are or have been working to support the lives of people living in the Shimouma district of Setagaya Ward, with the theme of "support and support." This third work is a story about Ryota Nagami, who has been supporting people with intellectual disabilities. How I started my work, what I thought about while providing support, and my family. We ask ourselves what it means for people to support others.

“Let’s rap! ~Looking back on the days of coronavirus''

[Appearance] Workshop participants
[Progress] Yo Kashiwagi FUNI

Everyone from their teens to their 10s gathered through a public recruitment process. After the workshop, each participant will present through rap what the "days of coronavirus" were like for them. What form it will take is still undecided. In the second half, I hope to hear about the "days of coronavirus" for the audience.
