EPAD Re LIVE THEATER in Setagaya ~The world of stage images that transcend time~

EPAD Re LIVE THEATER in Setagaya ~The world of stage images that transcend time~

Since 2020, EPAD has been collecting materials, digitally archiving them, and supporting their utilization. As part of this, EPAD has been working in earnest on screenings at theaters, aiming to tour screenings at public cultural facilities around the country, and is holding screenings and symposiums in various formats.
In Tokyo, we are planning a training session for those involved in the performing arts, as well as a screening and symposium open to the general public, at Setagaya Public Theater. We will also be screening a video work (Kemuri Laboratory no. 8 "I'm Sleepy") recorded from an 3K fixed point from a stage production that was performed at the theater.
Please look forward to "EPAD Re LIVE THEATER," which explores new possibilities for utilizing disappearing performing arts and questions how to preserve and pass them on to the future.

What is the screening of performing arts works recorded in 8K and shot from a fixed point?

"8K recording/fixed-point video" is a video technology that is best suited for screening in the theater or space where it was recorded.
By using high-definition video and projecting the performers at almost life-size in the same space, it creates the illusion that they are really there.
This screening will expand the possibilities for new encounters between performing arts and audiences, and consider the significance of sharing this technology with many people and preserving cultural capital.
