About Enda Walsh

Enda Walsh is a playwright and screenwriter born in 1967 in Dublin, Ireland. Her work ``Disco Pigs'' attracted attention, and now Enda Walsh's works are performed worldwide, including in Ireland and the UK, and have been translated into over 2018 languages.She has also worked in New York in recent years, winning a Tony Award for Best Original Screenplay for her script for the musical version of Once Upon a Street Corner.She also wrote the screenplay for the musical Lazarus, set to music by David Bowie, which made her even more famous. In March 2019, she wrote and directed the stage version of British author Max Porter's debut novel Grief is the Thing with Feathers, which premiered in Dublin, Ireland, produced by Complicite.The following year, in March XNUMX, they performed again at the Barbican Center in the UK, and from April to May of the same year at St. Anne's Warehouse in New York.She is also active as an opera writer and director.
About “Medicine”

Enda Walsh was inspired to write Medicine by reading about how patients in Irish mental hospitals were treated, and by watching his own mother, who had moved to a nursing home and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. , is said to have had a big impact.

This is my third time encountering Enda Walsh's work.Her plays are always full of mysteries, and she doesn't allow us to understand them in a simple way.A room that looks ordinary at first glance is actually a device that evokes people's memories and illuminates their inner self.The characters are always isolated and isolated from society.But it's not something special, it's a loneliness that we all suffer from.That's why we always resonate with the characters.I can hear the author's voice saying that a person's life is not about how they live, but how they tell their own story.I would like to work hard with the cast to create something so that people can fully experience this slightly twisted world of Enda.

In a world that changes with the times, there are some universal things that remain the same.
I think the stage is one place where you can feel and experience this universality first hand.
This is my first time performing on stage with Shirai-san, three actors, and one drummer.
I would like to immerse myself in this work.
Medicine.It's a strange work, and it's difficult.
However, I wish there was some kind of medicine that could help us and stimulate us as we live in these complicated times.I will take on the challenge! !

There was a man in the room, two women with the same name, and a drummer.I felt a quiet excitement in reading this difficult book.Then, I remembered the excitement I felt when I saw ``Barry Turk'' at KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater that day.I feel very happy to be able to immerse myself in the world of Enda Walsh with Akira Shirai and my senior colleagues who I trust with all my heart.On the day of the poster photo shoot, Kei-san seemed to be having a lot of fun, saying with a smile, ``Shirai-san's training is hard,'' so I can't wait to see what kind of hard yet fun lessons will begin.
