Contemporary Noh Collection III "Nue/NUE"

"Nue/NUE" written and directed by Akio Miyazawa opens at Theater Tram on November 2006, 11.
In order to double or triple the enjoyment of Miyazawa's work during the performance, we will be holding lectures that approach "Nue" from various angles.
What kind of work is the original Noh masterpiece "Nue"?
And what is a nue in the first place?
What was Miyazawa Akio trying to revive in "Nue/NUE"?

We will explain in detail about the Noh "Nue" using video materials and other classics that depict the Nue, such as the Heike Monogatari "Nue no Dan" and the Taiheiki.We plan to touch on the basics of Noh.

Religious philosopher Toji Kamata, who is well versed in the world of spirits, the world of darkness, and the world of mystery, explores the culture rooted in the era and land in which the existence represented by the monster "Nue" of the Heian period is described. I will cut from the dark side.

◇ Sachiko Oda
Noh and Kyogen researcher.PhD (Literature).After completing a doctoral course at Hosei University, she worked as a part-time lecturer at Musashino (Women's) University, a concurrent staff member at Hosei University's Noh Research Institute, an assistant professor at Seitoku University, and is currently a part-time lecturer at Japan Women's University.Her main research theme is the history of Noh and Kyogen performances.She is also actively engaged in activities that connect her research and the stage, such as reviving songs.Her major publications include "Iwanami Koza Noh Kyogen VI Noh Appreciation" (co-author), Sanseido "Kyogen Handbook" (co-author), "Noh Stage Equipment" (paper), "Noh Acting and Direction" (paper).


◇Toji Kamata
Professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design.He specializes in religious philosophy, history of Japanese thought, and folklore.He is a doctor of literature.He is the chairman of the administrative committee of Tokyo Free University.Representative of Sarutahiko Okami Forum Sponsor.Beyond the scope of his specialty of religious philosophy, he creates new festivals and holds various events such as the Sarutahiko Shrine's Ohiraki Festival and Kobe Prayer.Also released a CD as "Shinto Songwriter".He is also a stone flute player.Major publications include "Okinadonron" tetralogy, "Symbols and Kotodama", "Memories of Sacred Places", "Fieldwork in the Realm of Gods", "Spiritual History of Gods and Buddhas", "Shinto Spirituality", "Juusatsu/Magical Realms". Theory, Spiritual Literature Journal, etc.His recent publication is "Discovery of Spirits" (co-authored by Hiroyuki Itsuki).
