"End Game", which will be performed at the Setagaya Public Theater from September 9nd, has been popular in Japan as "the end of the game", translated by Mr. Shinya Ando and Mr. Yasuya Takahashi. I decided to translate it.What I tried to do was break away from the image of Beckett = absurdity = difficult.A blind ham who spins a story towards the "end" in a shelter left in a ruined world.And Klov, who wants to get away from Ham but can't.The relationship between the two is heartrending, humorous, and extremely real.
Since 2006 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Irish Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett, various "Endgames" are being performed around the world.After an overview of Beckett's theater using video materials, we will talk about "Endgame" in Japan and overseas.
