The smaller Theatre Tram got its name from its proximity
to the tramcar terminal on the Setagaya Line and because its entrance faces
the station plaza. Theatre Tram is a studio-like theatre without a fly loft.
The Stage area can be changed manually in many ways by rollback chairs and
arranging moveable floors supported by pillars. Its floors and ceilings
are flexibly designed to function according to the demands of any stage
designer. Its 26 feet high walls are solidly constructed with Norwegian
dark green slate peeling. Unlike the conventional studio-style "black box"
theatre, Theatre Tram itself creates a unique atmosphere.
