Forest of Stories started last year and was well received. This year, artists who are active in the fields of theatre, dance and visual arts read stories to children. A lot of stories—ones that everyone knows, ones that you think you know but you have forgotten, or ones that you hear for the first time. What stories are told will only be known at the performance!

The performers are Kensaku Kobayashi and ROLLY. Kensaku Kobayashi, who has been familiar with Setagaya Public Theatre as a member of the dance company Condors, makes his appearance at the Theatre in succession to Molly Sweeney. He is also popular as Ofuroski in Miitsuketa, NHK’s TV program for children, and a lot of children came to Forest of Stories at Setagaya Literary Museum with his appearance last year.

ROLLY, who has been active not only as a musician but also as an actor, makes his second appearance this year. Children who listened to his reading said “It’s fun” (8 years old) and “Impressed by his excellent singing and playing” (7 years old). He involved both children and adults in the ROLLY world.

What kinds of stories are told this year? We also look forward to seeing children who have never been to theatre.
Let’s have a nice early summer time listening to stories!
Children get shaved ice with syrup after the performance!
