There is a theory that ``listen'' comes from ``kiku'' (Keizan Hio, "Enui Zatsuwa"). "A sound full of spirit comes into the ear." That is "listening."Listening to the sound, taking in the breath of the sound, and feeling the space where the sound resonates, that may be the act of "listening."

This performance is an event that focuses on "listening" to shamisen music and discovering its joy.The shamisen is presumed to have been introduced to the Japanese mainland from Ryukyu during the Eiroku era (1558-1570).There are various genres of shamisen music, each with different vocal expressions and shamisen tones.This time, we will take up Gidayu-bushi, which was born in Osaka.Joruri was established at the end of the 17th century in the early Edo period, and uses music to vividly depict the world of stories.

The performance is in three parts.In the first part of the three-way discussion, different members will appear on each performance day, and flowers will bloom in the story of shamisen music.In the second part, the “Shamisen Suite” composed by Living National Treasure (member of the Art Academy) Seiji Tsurusawa was performed.In the third part, the Gidayu-bushi ``Fansangen-do Munakata origin'' (Kiyari Ondo stage from Heitaro Juke, commonly known as ``Yanagi'') will be performed in the form of Sujoruri.This is one of the most popular pieces of Gidayu-bushi. "Yanagi" is performed by Seiji Tsurusawa.
The spatial composition of the venue is the contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto.Sugimoto's "Red and White Plum Blossoms under the Moon", which will be exhibited for the first time in Tokyo, and "Four Seasons Willows" by Tohaku Hasegawa (1539-1610), who was active from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the Edo period, will decorate the stage.

In the Edo period, shamisen music was enjoyed even in luxurious tatami rooms.
