In the fall of 2013, the puppet joruri bunraku "Sugi Bunraku Sonezaki Suicide Kannon Meguri" toured Europe in Madrid, Rome and Paris.Each country attracted a large number of spectators every day and became a big topic.It has been decided that the play will be performed at the Setagaya Public Theater in March 2014.
This piece was composed, directed, set, and filmed by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, and composed by Living National Treasure Seiji Tsurusawa. Sonezaki Shinju” has been made into a stage while remaining faithful to the original text by Chikamatsu Monzaemon.In particular, in the opening "Kannon Meguri", Kanjuro Kiritake's "One Puppeteer Ohatsu" (newly produced for this work) and the video work by contemporary artist Tabaimo are the highlights.Please look forward to this work that is attracting the attention of the world.
