"Shunkin" was premiered at the Setagaya Public Theater in 08 by Simon McBurney, a genius in the British theater world.Using Junichiro Tanizaki's novel "Shunkinsho" and essay "In Praise of Shadows" as a motif, the production stimulates the five senses of the audience with lighting rich in shadows and shamisen sounds that remain strong in the ear. It was highly acclaimed, including winning the Best Director Award.
We have received many requests for further performances, but it has been decided that we will be officially invited to the Lincoln Center Festival in the Performing Arts Hall of Fame in New York this July.And in August, we will perform the long-awaited triumphant performance at our theater.
