When you face the playwright who once created an era and listen to his voice.What will you hear?

The first in a series of new readings will focus on Albert Camus (1-1913), a playwright, director, and actor known for his novels The Stranger and The Plague.

Written in France under German occupation.A tragedy born from the sudden visit of her long-absent son to her mother and daughter who run an inn in a cold village.The story is inspired by a newspaper article found by the protagonist of the novel The Stranger in his cell. Premiered in 1944.

Dramatization of a true story about the assassination of the Grand Duke in Russia.A young man who was waiting to blow up the Grand Duke's carriage saw a child riding with him.The lives of young terrorists trying to live a just revolution are powerfully depicted. Premiered in 1949.

◆ Albert Camus
Born in French Algeria in 1913.Widely known as a novelist, Camus was also a theater person who worked as a playwright, director and actor.After graduating from university, he worked as a journalist, writing novels, plays, essays and criticisms during the turbulent times of World War II and the Algerian War of Independence.His representative works include the novels "The Stranger" and "The Plague", the essay "The Myth of Sisyphus", and his plays such as "Caligula", "Misunderstanding" and "The Righteous People", as well as adaptations of novels. In 1957, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1960, he died suddenly at the age of 46 due to a traffic accident.His unfinished novel, The First Human, was made into a movie and screened in Japan this spring.This year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.
