　Setagaya Public Theater artistic director Mansai Nomura, who has launched new projects since his appointment as artistic director, plans and supervises a series of "Contemporary Nohgakushu."
Based on the pillars of the artistic director's policy of "creating a repertoire," "dissemination of performing arts overseas," and "fusion of classical performing arts and contemporary theater," Mansai Nomura, who has a background in classical performing arts, brings back the wisdom and sophistication of the classics to the modern age. This series was born out of the idea that we would like to make use of it lively in our current stage creation.

This series has so far included Contemporary Nohgaku I: AOI/KOMACHI (written and directed by Takeshi Kawamura, 2003, 2007), Contemporary Nohgakushu II: Mootzuka (written and directed by Tatsuo Kaneshita, 2004), Noh Collection III "Nue/NUE" (written and directed by Akio Miyazawa, 2006), Contemporary Noh Collection IV "The Diver" (written and directed by Hideki Noda, 2008), Contemporary Noh Collection V ""Shundokumaru" "Shunkan san” and “Ai no Kodo” (Written by Tsuyoshi Kawamura, directed by Yutaka Kuramochi, 2010).

Tomohiro Maekawa, who won both the Kinokuniya and Yomiuri Theater Awards in 2010 and is riding the waves as one of the most anticipated theater talents of today, will write a new work for the Setagaya Public Theater in 11.
In the 09 Theater Tram production of Strange: A Story Heard from Yakumo Koizumi, five short stories were selected from Yakumo Koizumi's ghost story, and one person told the story using the technique of narrative. As soon as it was released, the characters moved freely between the story and reality, expressing a mysterious story in a light and witty way, creating a work that was "a little scary" but "can't help but laugh."
This new work I am working on in 2011 is a new work that uses the technique of this "Strange".
By changing the motif from Yakumo Koizumi to "Kyogen" and "Noh," we can enjoy the humor of the ordinary people as in Kyogen, while freely transcending space and time, which are the characteristics of Nohgaku, to express "passion" and "". Draw the existence of the soul beyond the curse.
Freely moving back and forth between the classics and the modern, Maekawa's unique sense of wonder depicts a world where reality and fantasy intersect, as if it were a ghost story on a summer festival night.
