Societas Raffaello Sanzio is an artist collective founded in 81 led by Romeo Castellucci, a genius in the Italian contemporary theater world. It is one of the most popular companies in Europe for its unparalleled overwhelming beauty of space and the strength of its story that transcends words and resonates in the heart.
The Divine Comedy, which premiered at the 08 Avignon Theater Festival, where he was an associate artist, is a contemporary story inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. It consists of three parts ("Hell", "Purgatory", and "Heaven"), and the second part, "Purgatory", will be performed at the Setagaya Public Theater.
In this modern Purgatory, Castellucci finds a small, scary story in the everyday life of an ordinary family.A beautiful and kind mother, a boy, and an elite businessman father. The violence that lurks in the depths of quiet everyday life, and the beautiful nightmare that bewilders the viewer's heart, perhaps to purify it. What do we feel in front of today's "Purgatory" inspired by "Divine Comedy"?The world's forefront performance is a must-see.
