The 5th in a series that pursues the possibilities of Kyogen, which is connected to modern performing arts!
"Kyogen Theater" started in 2004 based on the concept of "Kyogen as 'performing arts'" beyond the framework of classical performing arts.We have built a special Noh stage in the theater space of the Setagaya Public Theater and have performed many famous Kyogen songs.
This time, the 5th time, we will prepare two programs, "Hikoichi Banashi" (common to A and B) by Kyogen, A program "Magnet", and B program "Batayamabushi".The customary Noh musical accompaniment will feature flutes and drums.
Active in the three works are "liars" who are deceived but are deceived and encounter unexpected twists.
Please enjoy the generous "lie" unique to Kyogen.
"Hikoichi Tales" by Kyogen
Hikoichi, a master liar who defrauded Tengu no Ko of a cover-up.
Fearing revenge from his father's great tengu, he got the Tengu's mask from the lord of the castle, and got whale meat, which the great tengu likes, so that he could catch a kappa.Everything should be fine now...
Junji Kinoshita's "Hikoichi Banashi" will be depicted using the Kyogen concept, which the author said was the most suitable for directing this work.

"Bata Yamabushi"
A detective drama about a straw bract (lunch box wrapped in straw).
