Yukihiro Isso, a flute player of the Isso school, Mansai Nomura, a Kyogen performer, and Hiroshi Kamei, an otsuzumi player of the Kadono school, are attracting attention not only for their active performances on the Noh stage, but also for their ambitious efforts that go beyond the framework of traditional performing arts. Loyalty. They started "Nogaku present tense" to explore the possibility of Noh as a comprehensive art with a history of 600 years. This series has been well-received in Noh theaters in Tokyo, with each episode featuring a lead actor of the same generation. The special edition "Noh Present Tense Theater Version @ Setagaya" at the Setagaya Public Theater has also been well received, and this is the second time.

Experience the real thrill of Noh through the fusion of dance, gestures and music

One of the attractions of Noh is the fusion of dance, gestures, and music. With only a minimum number of people and props on the Noh stage, it is nothing less than the dialogue between the Noh chants, traditional Japanese instruments, and the actors' performances that evoke an elegant scene, as well as heaven and hell."Toru" and "Shari" this time are performances suitable for enjoying the dynamism of music and movement.

"Tohru" is a dignified and gorgeous work that depicts the spirit of Minamoto no Toru, a nobleman from the Heian period, dancing in the moonlit night, with the image of the moon intertwined in various verses and movements.Toru was a person who had risen to the position of Sadaijin (minister of the left), and had Shiogama in Senga moved from Mutsuoku (Tohoku) to the residence of Kawarain in Rokujo, Kyoto, and had salt boiled with salt drawn from the ura of Namba (Osaka). It is said that he admired elegance so much that he enjoyed looking at the smoke."Toru" is full of verses that show the elegance and rich sensibility of the elegant people of the Heian period.

"Shari" is a dynamic Noh play depicting the battle between Sokushitsuki, who stole the Buddha's relic, said to be the tooth of Buddha, and Idaten, the guardian deity of Buddhism. The climactic battle on a grand scale that runs through the heavens and earth is the highlight of this work.Moving with quick foot movements, sometimes jumping, and hitting each other as they pass each other are depicted in maibataraki, in which dance and gestures are harmoniously integrated to the rhythm created by the chanting and traditional Japanese instruments. .Please expect by all means.

Also, after each performance, there will be a talk show with Yukihiro, Mansai, and Hirotada and the shite-kata of the day.Since the times of Kannami and Zeami, Noh has created various schools and been passed down for about 600 years. There are three different schools: the Kanze school, which is characterized by its lustrous and delicate performances; the Kita school, which is loved by samurai families and focuses on bold performances; It can also be said to be the highlight of this time's "Noh Present Tense Theatrical Version @ Setagaya".Please take a look and compare for XNUMX days.
