What does it mean to live there and create theater?
Simultaneous performance of two ambitious works that attempted “collaboration” with “others” in Japan!
In 2005, the Setagaya Public Theater and the Japan Foundation collaborated with 16 Southeast Asian theater people to produce Hotel Grand Asia.Participating members will reconsider their identity as a theater person in his three years of collaborative work with ``others'', and make it possible to create joint theater works while making use of mutual cultural differences. , gave rise to a variety of theatrical methodologies.
The participants, who have brought these experiences and methodologies back to their home countries, are now producing excellent collaborative works one after another in their respective theater practices. In March 2007, he was invited to perform "Mobile" (produced by Necessary Stage, Singapore) at Tram. This work, in which theater people from four countries participated, was well received for its multi-layered story that depicts the complex relationships between contemporary Asian countries and the different ways in which each society faces different problems.
This year, we will be presenting two works, Breaking (Malaysia) and On/Off (Indonesia), from the group of works produced by the participating members of Hotel Grand Asia.

About XNUMX ethnic groups and more than XNUMX different languages form Indonesia's "unity in diversity."Ding Dong WS, the leader of "Theater Kubourg", has not only stayed in the theater, but has gone out to the region and community to perform theater activities literally in the squares of villages. After "Hotel Grand Asia", he and his theater company began to create new works, believing that the perspective and methodology of "collaboration" was essential for theater practice in Indonesia.People from different cultures and languages will explore the identity of their own country through theatrical collaboration.
