Artistic director Mansai Nomura planned and supervised the "Contemporary Nogakushu" series, which has been well received every time.Up to now, three up-and-coming playwrights have created exciting works based on Noh performances.This year marks the 3th anniversary of the opening of the Setagaya Public Theater, and as the opening work, AOI/KOMACHI, written and directed by Takeshi Kawamura, which was the starting point of the series, has been moved to the public theater and will be a work with an even greater sense of scale. I will replay.
The story unfolds in two parts with completely different tastes.The first part, "AOI," is a rewrite of the Noh song "Aoi no Ue," which depicts the love anguish of Lady Rokujo, who possesses Hikaru Genji's wife, Aoi.At the premiere, the leading actress, Rei Asami, received high praise for her overwhelming presence.The second part is "KOMACHI," which is based on the Noh song "Sotoba Komachi," in which Ono Komachi, who has become an old woman, falls into madness while reminiscing about her past.Toru Tezuka and Butoh artist Akira Kasai will co-star, and there will be plenty to see in the production using video.
